On 12 May, mirroRE participated in Milano Moments // Colours Beyond at Broeinest ADAM in Amsterdam.

Inspired by the idea of bringing some of the energy, discussions, and design perspectives of Milan Design Week to Amsterdam, the event brought together designers, architects, creative professionals, and representatives from across the interior design industry to reflect on the role of colour in contemporary interiors and to explore the palettes and spatial narratives shaping 2026 and 2027. Organized in collaboration with NCS Colour, the afternoon offered international perspectives, discussions, and presentations centred around colour as a defining element of spatial experience.

As part of the programme, mirroRE presented Iranian Mirrorwork: Time as a Material of Design.

Drawing on the idea of craft as historical wisdom, the presentation explored Iranian mirrorwork through its climatic and cultural origins, examining how this craft emerged as an aesthetic response to the warm and abundant natural light of a sunlit climate.

The presentation further argued that the contemporary relevance of Iranian mirrorwork lies in its intrinsic qualities of reflectivity and interactivity. Through its continuous dialogue with light, colour, movement, and the changing position of the viewer, mirrorwork actively participates in the perception of space rather than merely decorating it.

From this perspective, Iranian mirrorwork can operate alongside other contemporary materials and surfaces in shaping human-centred interiors, offering designers a unique reflective medium through which light, colour, spatial perception, and even time itself become active components of the design experience.
